Hoka Bondi 8 Review: Maximum Cushion, Maximum Comfort
The Bondi 8 takes max cushioning to the extreme. Perfect for recovery runs or overkill?

The Hoka Bondi 8 is the definition of maximum cushioning. With its oversized midsole and plush ride, it promises cloud-like comfort. After 200 miles, here's my verdict on this ultra-cushioned trainer.
Cushioning Philosophy
The Bondi 8 features Hoka's signature full EVA midsole in maximum thickness. Every step feels like landing on a pillow. For runners recovering from injuries or those who prioritize comfort above all, this is heaven.
Ride Quality
The Meta-Rocker geometry creates a smooth heel-to-toe transition despite the high stack. The ride is stable thanks to the wide base, though you definitely feel like you're riding high off the ground.
Best Use Cases
These excel on recovery days, easy runs, and for runners returning from injury. The extreme cushioning reduces impact forces significantly. However, they're too soft for speed work or races.
Durability Report
After 200 miles, the midsole shows some compression but still delivers plenty of cushioning. The outsole is wearing well. I expect to get 350-400 miles from these.
